Was on Liotta's Character's Side until I realized how he was wrong...

How can you not have sex with your young wife for a year and then be so shocked when she has impromptu sex (as opposed to an ongoing affair) with an old friend? I bet part of the reason he doesn't harm Tobey's character physically or through his family is because he felt some guilt over being a bad husband - and he WAS a bad husband.

Sort of yes and no. It's true that they had no sex life, but that didn't mean that he wasn't happy with the marriage. We really don't know a whole lot of details about their marriage. Maybe she was sort of happy with the marriage.

In many similar marriages, the couple sees more benefits in staying together than separating.

Maybe. There were several hints that he was a workaholic ("everything he does turns out gold"). So, he was a good provider, although she was a doctor and probably made good money too. In his mind, making millions of dollars made him a good husband.

It's just a casualty of war that they never had time for sex.

Good point about Peter not having sex with Rebecca, not at all realistic, btw. So he cheated by without sex from her.Yes that's also cheating, withholding sex for long periods of time.If I was married to a woman as pretty as Kerry Washington,I'll be giving her the long pipe 4 times a week at least! I did like this quirky, dark comedy.
