Arnold would've been great

I think Arnold would've been great in the lead if this movie was made years ago. I'm going to go out on the limb here and say Arnold would've been better than the Rock.

I shall dignify that post with the following, well thought out response:

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Ha

Uh, okay. Can I ask why? Are you forgetting that Arnold played the Terminator? The Rock was pretty much a killing machine in most of the movie. He was like the Terminator. There were a couple times where he had to show feelings. But not too many. The Rock didn't have to do much acting.

reply

I disagree, he showed great emotion in his face.

reply

Yes, at times in the movie, he did. But in most of the movie he was a killing machine. I don't see why suggesting Arnold could've played the part back in his heyday is a joke. What's this guy laughing at?

reply

Don't get me wrong, I love old arnold movies, but he would have been far worse in this movie than the Rock. Arnold has always been more robotic feeling in his acting, which is why he played the terminator so well. Theres no way he could have pulled off a character where more needs to be said with the face than anything else.

reply

When I was watching the first few minutes of the movie I was thinking of Arnold in the first Terminator. Arnold was huge and very intimidating in that. For some reason I thought the Rock's acting was pretty bad in the scene when he watches his brother die. But he was good in the scene when he goes to see his mother and you see a tear. The Rock was even good in the end when he goes to see the preacher.

reply

Arnold and a few of the other leading men of that era would have been saddled with one liners and catch phrases. At least the writer of this movie limited this tired cliche to a supporting actor and not the lead.

reply

What do you mean?

reply

The problem with casting Arnold in this role, back in his prime, is that the script writers wouldn't have been able to resist adding a bunch of silly one-liners.

reply

I think the Rock could play a good Jason Voorhees lol, I mean, that would never happen but, there were times in this movie, specially how still he was, and the looks he gave, that made me think of the Jason character

I'll look down, and whisper no

reply

Nah, Arnold was good with terminator coz he had that robotic deadpan look. Cold killer. Driver is more of a "simmering anger" type of killer. A more intense killer. I don't think Arnold could have pulled it off. I mean, give me one movie where Arnold could pull off intense "I'm gonna kill you look" and actually be scary?

reply

Good God, I'm glad no one brought up The acting in Arnolds Comedies!
Oh Damn!!! Some one just did. ;-)

I agree, Arnold in his prime would have been great in this movie.

reply

But when would Arnie get to say "I'll be back"?

Probably when he saw the warden.
