The Cartel (review)

Bob Bowdon released this precursor to Waiting for Superman in 2009. It is an interesting, fact-laden examination of the many issues facing education. Students are lost in a system that seems to be about anything but teaching. When eighty percent of the cost of educating a student goes to everything other than the teacher, we have a problem. Money has not fixed our education system. To fix it, we need to eliminate the lobbies that prevent effective change from taking root. That lobby comes in the form of the teachers union, which applies a double standard between public schools and charter schools. It is time for reform, this film is a wake up call.
