well, we know that she used to smoke dope. so I would think she wasn't one to pass up on a party invitation.

I think, when it came to men, she suffered from "Groucho Marx Syndrome" - not wanting to join any club that would have her as a member. She couldn't stand Ken precisely because he was smitten by her while setting her sites instead on the unobtainable Joe. I imagine she would come to despise any man who treated her decently on account of her own low self-esteem.

Probably like one of those children or teenagers who was always needy.

I bet when she was young she was quite a lot of fun. She was probably popular. But as she got older she was too immature emotionally to progress with her peers and it ended up making her lonely.

We know she hated the place she grew up in, Crawley. A small town presumably (looked it up but by now it might be bigger) went to a college to do her secretarial course at Croydon, slightly larger town.I'd imagine as soon as she could made for the bright lights of London. I'd say the year would have been around the 70's. Party girl, did the bar maid/manager bit in a Mediterranean island. One failed marriage and one bad relationship to a married man for 6 years. I placed her in her 50's when the film started. All her former friends, she mentions a "Monica" probably all went their own way, drifted apart and she got left behind. As far as the childhood background I think it is mentioned in an interview she did with Mike Lee, deciding what it would have been like. Must look that up.
