Absolutely amazing........

even after nearly 7 years this film raisers discussion. I have it on DVD and watch it from time to time especially if a poster brings up something new to discuss. I may have missed a point or didn't see it their way at first. I haven't lost my enthusiasm and still enjoy watching it.

I've seen Jim Broadbent and Ruth Sheen playing lots of characters since and I just love them. I think I've only seen Manville once, in a Mid Summer Murder series but I know she is a great actress.

Manville blew my socks off with this performance which has stuck with me like few others. So brave and heart-wrenching. Wish she got more notice from it.

Saw she's in the upcoming PT Anderson movie !

I agree wholeheartedly. I watched this for the first time last night and thought Lesley Manville's performance was one of the best I've seen for many years. A terrific actress who deserves more recognition. I can't remember ever seeing a more honest portrayal of someone with a life in crisis.

This means something, this is important.

And she was excellent in the 2017 film "Phantom Thread". I loved her line when she told her boss "Don't pick a fight with me. You won't come out alive."
