Which of Eric Roberts' roles is your favorite?

In Deadline, Eric plays Ronnie Bullock, a seasoned and unorthodoxed newspaper reporter. Eric exploded onto the scene in 1978, receiving a Golden Globe nomination for his rolw in King of The Gypsies. He's chosen interesting, eclectic roles throughout his career. He's no stranger to true crime films either, having played lead roles in Star 80 and the television adaption of In Cold Blood.

From romantic leads to frightening real-life monsters, Eric's played them all. Which of Eric's roles was your favorite?

It's a long list but it would have to be "The Coca Cola Kid". It was refreshing to see him play the straight guy up against a country full of quirky characters down under.
But really, he was stupendous in "Runaway Train", "The Pope of Greenwich Village", "Star '80", etc. I could have sworn he received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for "Runaway Train". Thoroughly deserved it too. But Oscar remained typically out of sync and gave it to Don Ameche for "Cocoon". Eric and Mickey Rourke - two of the finest America has ever produced.

He's really built a nice body of work, hasn't he? I must have seen "Raggedy Man" a dozen times - he was so good in that, and loved "Star 80." His portrayal of Paul Snyder, Dorothy Stratton's obsessive, estranged husband, was amazing. I couldn't understand what sweet, naive Dorothy saw in that controlling, sleezy opportunist. By the time she found the courage to leave Snyder, his jealousy had spiralled into madness. There was no way he was ever going to let anyone else have her. What a sad, facinating story.

He's good in just about everything he does, but I like him in good guy roles. Raggedy Man and Runaway Train are my favorites.

When I was researching this movie and deciding whether I would spend 2 hours of my life on it, I clicked on Robert's credits page and WOW. That sure is a lot of movies he is pumping out. I'm sure not all the roles are starring roles but he sure does keep busy doesn't he? I think I'd want his agent as my agent if I were the Hollywood type. His agent certainly seems to be earning their commissions.

He was great in this. Great character and comic relief. It's been a long time since I've seen him in anything and I wasn't expecting much from him in this but I loved his performance.
