Seemed like a tv movie..

Thought it was going to be good since hearing so much about it and Drew Barrymore was in it, but felt like watching a tv movie you would see on the family network, or something. The whales were nice to watch on the big screen at home though. I love whales and the idea of the "saving the whales" plot, yet it was poorly done. Was expecting a "Free Willy" type of action-adventure movie. Would only recommend watching this movie on tv if it ever comes out.

I give it a 4/10. Too bad I didn't watch the whole thing though. The acting needed work too.

You didn't get it. The movie wasn't about saving the whales, it's about the media creating so much attention to what was pretty much a non event. All those people and money to save 3 whales? There was much criticism of the rescue effort, some coming from the Kristen Bell character.

The Big Miracle in the title refers not to the rescue but the fact that anyone cared at all. All this makes it much smarter than a TV movie.

Maybe because Ken Kwapis is known for directing TV shows like The Office and The Bernie Mac Show.

Yeah same here... Love 'Free Willy' as well, need to rewatch that, haven't seen it since I was a teenager

And so incredibly cheesy and could have done without any of the scenes with Delmot Mulrooney (the colonel) and Vinessa Shaw (the uhm lady who knew the president) but I do realise that they were one of the few actual characters that were based on real people and that's why they threw them in it

I'm gonna refuse you an offer you can't make
