This is just wrong. W.R.O.N.G.

How can you release a trailer for a CHRISTMAS movie, which will come out NEXT YEAR, three weeks before THIS YEAR'S CHRISTMAS?! It's... WRONG. Just WRONG. Furthermore, it looks like it's gonna suck BIG time. I mean come on, the trailer was a very LONG unfunny joke. The lip sync looks HORRIBLE too. I think it's gonna be a major flop.

You can't be serious?
When would you like them to advertise a Christmas movie... St Patrick's Day? Arbor Day? The Summer Solstice?
Of course it's coming out around next Christmas, when should it come out... June?

True the voice syncing was a little off for “nothing to see” & “or down there” but the majority of the time we see the elf talking, it looks fine.
It's fascinating you think think the movie is going to suck based on a teaser trailer that seems to contain no footage of the actual movie.
Certainly it doesn't make you want to see the movie but you don't have a clue if the movie will be good or bad.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not chomping at the bit to see this next year either based on the teaser but as far as anyone knows this will be huge!
After all giant blue cats living in a tree fighting the Marines sounds like a pretty stupid premise for a movie too and look what happened to that.

Actually it's called proper marketing.

*ALL* big movies have teasers released well before they are released.

reply

I like how everybody thinks of themselves as smart asses. It's proper marketing? Okay. So they can't use October, November and ultimately December. They have to announce it a year away, which wouldn't be an issue, I mean we've seen films being announced two years before they were released, or even more. But isn't it kinda *beep* to do that with a Holiday movie?

Let me explain: "It's December, I can't wait for Christmas! I'm feeling the Holiday spirit, Oh, there's a cute animation movie coming out. Can't wait! I'll just book some ticket-EH!!!!!!!!! NEXT YEAR?! Christmas, NEXT YEAR?! What about THIS CHRISTMAS?! WHAT THE *beep*?!"

And the same would go for any kind of Holiday specials. It sure is important to make audiences very excited and keen to see your movie, but advertising next year's Christmas movie NOW is just wrong. At least in my opinion. Robert Zemeckis didn't advertise his Christmas movie until October. And thatworked very, very well.

I don't want any response from bashing trolls, but from people who actually have decent, sensible arguments.

HO HO HO !

The trailer was very awkward and unfunny too. The elf's dialogue couldn'tve been less funny, or more forced.

I'll bring the BEARDS.

reply

How about, it's SUPPOSED to be forced, as he is hysterical? I found the teaser great, and if Aardman is partly behind this, I'm in for the ride

reply

i like how people get on here. and start off with "i like how everybody..." wait no, actually i *beep* hate it

reply

It's a teaser.

reply

Well then dont go see the movie and shut the *beep* up. ok? noone wants to hear it. *beep* off. thanks.

Judging by this quote, it seems the OP was originally quite excited about seeing this film. But upon realizing it wasn't to be released until NEXT year, the OP's attitude underwent a radical shift and he/she has now taken to bashing the film instead. Don't let disappointment sour you, OP. Look at it this way - you now have something to look forward to for next Christmas, which will be here before you even know it!

"Come on, Skip. It's go-go, not cry-cry!"

reply

some people are just way too serious. i get the last laugh as i'm posting the day before it comes out! winning!

reply

You're right, Love turned sour is the worse hate you'll ever meet.

reply

I don't remember ever seeing the trailer, but the movie itself was quite well-done.

reply

Maybe they just didn't have the time to complete it last year so they'd promise to release it this year? Did you really consider that?

Who knows, maybe they'll fix those "lip synch issues" you think are there. ;)

reply

Look at that... it's almost time for it to come out. You fretted for nothing, OP.

reply

OP will probably be the first one to buy a ticket at the local cinema for this awesome movie.

reply

I just sat here reading this and was shocked they were advertising a film so heavily for coming out in 2012.....but then I realized this thread is a year old lmao! How the tables have turned.

reply

not wrong...just a waste of money imho...... but it's out soon...be intresting to see howmany peeps actually see it based on seeing atrailer a year ago...who knows...they may make their money back....but we will NEVER know.

I don't care what you think, not when your thinking what THEY want you to think.

How old are you? I'm just wondering because anyone who doesn't understand the idea of 'teaser trailers' is probably very young and hasn't been to the movie theater often.

MANY movies put out teasers a year or more in advance. They won't be aired on TV that far in advance but its rather inexpensive to post in online and to put it in the trailers before a movie. It also creates some early awareness so that when the major marketing push happens a month or two before the movie is released, there is already some awareness.

I'm very surprised a few people on this thread have made similar posts. I thought everyone was aware of teaser trailers.

reply

I love the movie! It is a FLOP tho!

reply

It is next year.. and the movie was great. :)

Wanna go to the movies with me?
