Great performance from Nesbitt here

The scene with the police near the beginning... as a father myself, I found this so movingly believable that it upset me a lot.

There are some very clever devices in this film, and the one that I found most effective was his silence; that long week during which he was interacting with the girl, never saying a single word. I felt the frustration of this viscerally, and this built up very well to that crucial moment when he utters that single word "No". I don't think I've ever felt so much dramatic tension released so effectively in a single syllable.

I think you're being a little unfair here, as well as abusive. I also disagree with your position.

There was no spoiler in my title line, and almost none in the content. Besides, lots of spoilers are always included in the forum posts. My approach is not to read the forum until I've seen the film. I feel equally outraged when people include spoilers in reviews, because that's much worse - reviews are read before watching the film, therefore spoilers are a no-no. However, you can't expect people having a lively discussion on a forum to tread on eggshells when it comes to spoilers; it would inhibit free discussion about the film.

I expect you will disagree with me here, but that's my position - and you will NEVER find me revealing a spoiler in a review.

You will note also that I managed to reply to you without calling you names.

OK, so you ignore my main points about spoilers on forum posts being expected, and instead continue to berate me for your particular original gripe.

I'm bored with this now. Bye bye.

"Yes, I could look at the written reviews but many of those are by people connected to the film or associated with actors in it."

I would like proof of this, as that kind of thing needs to be reported to the IMDB just like fake reviews for Metacritic.

As for being spoiled, I've been spoiled plenty of times and still liked the build-up to a pivotal moment like with milkshakes in There Will Be Blood or the statue of liberty in Planet of the Apes.

If this spoiler really affected you in such way, take guidance from your own signature: "You want to go home and re-think your life."
