Thank God Aronofsky Bailed!

After seeing Noah this week, all I can say is thank God Aronofsky moved away from directing this movie. Honestly, Noah has its visual moments and a few nice contemplative moments but overall is an insanely structured and frankly a boring mess.

I can't imagine The Wolverine playing out better but I can imagine Aronofsky imparting his artistic flare and making it pure drivel.

reply

Maybe, but I wish Mangold hadn't made some pivotal changes to the script when he took over the project.

reply

Aronofsky is infinitely better than Mangold

reply

I have to agree.

reply

He may be better in other subject matters but Aronofsky would have been an awful fit for Logan.

reply

Why? Mangold ruined this film with his script changes. Old man Yashida should not have been a character in this film. Shingen and the REAL Silver Samurai would've been great as the villains. Viper and her snake tongue was off, and despite many people's opinion about Yukio, her look was wrong and she isn't a mutant.

reply

Pure speculation, but Aronofsky might have made more changes that offended fans while making a better movie. Case in point, his Year One project and the fact that Christians hate Noah.

When he was attached to this, it really gave the movie some credibility for me after being so disappointed with ORIGINS.

I read the screenplay that Aronofsky was going to use for this film. It was vastly superior to this crap that Mangold gave us.

If your argument depends on everyone being wrong except you, you probably have your head up your ass.

You just called Darren Aronofsky a "wannabe" and quoted "The Fountain" as his best film? Do you watch movies? First of all, "The Fountain" was probably his worst film and it's a masterpiece compared to this piece of garbage.

Requiem, Pi, The Wrestler and Black Swan were epic films.

"Visual direction"? Have you seen Requiem for a Dream? Maybe one of the best films made in the past 25 years.

I'll say two things definitely.

1. I've read Darren's script for "The Wolverine" and it was outstanding. Of course, it was dark, violent and had character development which I know would have been terrible for half of you people. It also didn't make a PG-13 cut which was why he went for "Noah" instead.

2. He was finally going to do Wolverine right. It wasn't a cookie cutter film. Anyone that can keep a straight face and give this movie a "9", which is Kubrick territory in terms of rating a film doesn't get out much.

This movie was comically awful. Of course, we did get to see Wolverine though, so it at least gets a 4 for entertainment value.

Wannabe ... you just hit the jackpot for dumbest comment in the history of IMDB.

Mangold is clearly the better choice of director for wolverine than Aronofsky... cos of the movies he has done... 3:10 to yuma, identity... he has done more action thriller based movies...Aronofsky is good... but movies are weird... thought provoking. .. but weird. ... wouldn't like a wolverine movie under him imho

reply

Mangold was a way better choice. I have a feeling this exact same thing will happen with Ant-Man. Wright is such an arrogant person. I have a feeling whoever they get will be the far better choice.

This movie can barely go more boring than it is already.

reply

Aronofsky would have been all wrong. Mangold delivered a true gem.

reply

I liked this movie. So no fault with Mangold

We'll say the same thing about Edgar Wright getting booted off Ant-Man... THANK GOD.

You'll see.

In a few months and we'll all know.

Should start a "Thank God Wright Bailed" over on Ant-Man.

reply

They need a "Thank God Edgar Wright Bailed" thread over on Ant-Man. Same idea, better film after the hyped guy left or was ran off.

Next time they shine a light in the sky, don't go to it.
