This Is A Brilliant Film!

There is not one wasted line, visual, camera angle or wasted development in this entire movie. Everything serves to either advance the plot or flesh out and develop a character. It was smart, tight and lean and superbly done. I truly think that this is the best movie of the summer. How could you not like it? It doesn't payoff prior installments or set up future ones, it’s a great film all by itself. It seems to exist almost out of time, for the simple purpose of pitting its iconic mutant anti-hero against the perfect threats. Who doesn’t like samurais, ninjas, and vicious yakuza thugs? You can still see the attempt to tie this film to events from the trilogy but it all works neatly and tightly and you really need not have seen those other films.

The Wolverine is certainly a movie that I want to see again. It's one heck of an entertaining and smart movie.

Finally someone with a brain.

Very good film. Didn't love the lab stuff at the end, but the rest was great.

I completely agree. The movie was great. Well-acted, with great fight scenes. I like that there wasn't an abundance of mutants running around. I thought the newcomers playing Yukio and Mariko were surprisingly good. And the film did actually surprise me a couple times.

Hardest thing with a hero like Wolverine (and Superman) is to actually make him vulnerable. If you don't feel he's actually in danger, it's hard to root for him. Of all the X films so far, this is the only one where you actually get a sense that he's in danger. I loved that about the movie.

I'll probably see it again in the theater, and will definitely get the blu ray.

That's exactly why word of mouth has been so strong for this film. We all feel that way and most of us really enjoyed this smart yet intense film.

This movie just nailed the character and the action! The writing was as good as it gets and deserves to be called brilliant. They had a good story to base it upon but that doesn't always mean they can deliver in live action. Just look at how the butchered Dark Phoenix.

They brought the character to the next level like he deserved to do.

I totally agree! The movie had the perfect balance of everything you could ask for in any type of movie: an action flick, a drama, a love story, etc. The acting was great, the in-depth character study was so needed, the setting was beautiful, and the action was just enough that it wasn't overdone. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

The standards for brilliant must've dropped quite a lot.

Much higher than the people that didn't get or enjoy this film's IQ.

I wouldn't say it was perfect, but it was a hell of a lot better than I would've expected it to be. Actually, the thing that really surprised me was its 3D effects. While some other films have had a few scenes here and there that looked great in 3D, the only film since Avatar that I thought made good use of 3D was The Avengers. Until now.

The unique story coupled with beautiful scenery, an excellent supporting cast and berserker rage suited only to our favourite hero make this a film that anyone can enjoy – though I suspect that die-hard Wolverine fans may enjoy it a little more.

This post I just read says it best...

For all who feel the need to blast this movie, please do us all a favor, don't go see movies anymore because apparently you have no idea how to enjoy a movie. You are as jaded as they come. This movie IS the best Marvel movie next to Thor and the Avengers to date. The best story of Wolverine so far. So many people feel the need to bash movies because it's trendy. Like I said, save your money, stay home and read a book. Don't go or see movies anymore. You have to have a readily available want for entertainment to enjoy them and not the need for attention by spamming

Forget the naysayers, they can't harsh my buzz. I'm still smiling ear to ear from seeing it last Friday.

It's the key second weekend and the anger trolls are out in force. I wish some of them would be honest and post right here why they are trying to crusade against a great movie. What is their ulterior motive? Come on, enlighten us.

At least they aren't as angry as the Iron Man haters. Those nutjobs hate the world to this day.

The Wolverine really surprised me, I really enjoyed it and frankly, it's better than Man of Steel, which just feels heartless next to the heart and sly humour of Jackman's Wolverine. ANd as a comic book fan too, I was impressed with how this film was handled. Logan has heart in this film, but in the end, no one can *beep* with him cause he's still the best at what he does.

With all due respect, so if I didn't like this movie, I have no idea how to enjoy a movie? That's a little harsh, don't you think? I have no problem with anyone who hates any given movie, provided it is an honest and sincere opinion, and if they can explain why they hate it in a logical and civilized manner without resorting to trollish behaviour. If anyone hated The Wolverine, then that's fine. I don't think hating this movie makes one jaded. I just don't see the need to troll a forum to blast any movie I hate, while for others, it seems to be their life mission.

It's pathetic how much of a slut comic book fans are for any superhero film. This film was alright. And I'm willing to bet that anyone who thinks this film is perfect hasn't watched more than one hundred films.
