Prizes?

I'm not sure if this has been covered in any other threads, but I didn't want to read any spoilers about past winners when I have only seen a few episodes.

Does anyone know if there is a cash reward, or some sort of prize pack for the contestants if they win?

I thought there had to be, but the mantracker.ca website doesn't really hint at it, but says "This is not for cash or prizes, but for pride!" or something to that effect.

I can't imagine there being no monetary prize at all...I know beating the mantracker certainly would carry with it some great pride especially for those interested in partaking in this type of show, but I just got to figure that despite being canadian and without a huge budget, they would give the contestants more than a pat on the back and a job well done if they manage to survive.

Shows like this may not give all the details but I doubt they'd put out flat out lies that could be contradicted by scores of past contestants. Plus tons of people compete at football, tennis and even scrabble for no cash prizes. Why not Mantracker?

No doubt expenses are paid but.....

If they get away, they get to live.

Whats not shown, is that if they are caught, they are "disposed of" off camera.

A conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking.

Why does there have to be a prize? Is that the only thing you think motivates people? People don't dream to climb Everest because there is pot of gold waiting at the top for them. It is about the challenge and the will to succeed. There are a lot of people out there whose only motivation is to know, 'I did that.' You don't see news stories about Paramedics stopping at the scene of a horrible accident and saving someone's life, but you see stories all the time about an average person who stops and saves someone's life. The reason is because Medics get paid to do it, average people don't. That is why people care about them...they didn't do it for a prize.

What pride can you have in yourself if you only competed for the money?

Why does there have to be a prize? I supposed there doesn't, but Mantracker gets paid, his sidekick gets paid, the camera crew is paid, then you have everyone else who is making money off the people running. Seems only fair. Without the prey, there is no show. The tracker and his prey have been knocking out quality programs that has given them 5 successful seasons and now starting the 6th! Seems to me there should be something to entice very tired bodies to push on that last mile with trackerman breathing down their neck.

You ever see the idiots that audition for American Idol and purposefully make a fool of themselves just so they'll get a short clip on one of the audition shows. Many people will do virtually anything to get on TV. And in this case there is an exciting challenge to boot. No need for a prize.

My guess is many more people apply for the show than they accept.

No doubt. Unattractive people and uninteresting people do not get picked for the show. That's why you have to submit a short video of yourself.

Both winners and losers get a free trip to Canada. I'm sure the Mantracker crew pays for airfare, hotels, and stuff while the competitors are filming the show.

I'm sure they don't film the same day they arrive in Canada, so they probably get a nice hotel to relax in for a day.

Just my two cents.
