Question about ending of Season 3

Spoilers obviously.

At the end of the final episode of season 3 Eddy receives a letter from Vogel which wasn't translated via the subtitles. There are 2 phone numbers (I assume) at the bottom with Hélène and Roxanes names next to them.
When Eddy arrives at the house Vogel is holding two phones with the womens names taped to them. Was any of this explained by the letter or is it part of the end of season cliffhanger?

reply

Spoilers in my reply, too.

I've just watched this, and there was some conversation which explained that Eddy must call one of the two numbers. The one he calls would tell Vogel which one he wants to save. That was Vogel's plan, but obviously he's not the sharpest tool in the box.

That's confusing, I just re-watched the ending from when he gets the letter and there is no such scene. I don't know if you watched a different version from the FOX UK airing, seems strange to edit out such an important scene.

(spoilers again, obviously)

As Eddy and Walter are driving towards Vogel's house, there's a voiceover from Vogel (reading the letter): "The greasy-haired bitch and Helene Rossi will die. You can save one of them. The choice is yours."

Just after that, Walter gets a call from Baba Aroudj and then both he and Eddy go their separate ways.

True, I suppose I just expected more explanation than that. Plus on the first watch how Vogel acts when Eddy pulls up made me think than he knew he was coming.

Well, if another cop could find their location, then the one with the most to lose will easily find them, even if it was rather convenient that both would find them so quickly, especially since Fargette was able to track that dead guy's phone via GPS signal THREE DAYS after he disappeared. Any smartphone is lucky to last a day on a full charge, so three days is impossible.

I believe the letter says the following:

'La connasse aux cheveux gras et Helene Rossi vont mourir. [THE BITCH WITH GREASY HAIR AND HELENE ROSSI WILL DIE]

'Tu ne peux ex sauver qu'une choisis. [YOU CAN CHOOSE NOT TO SAVE ONE OF THEM]

'N’appelle qu’un feul numero celui de celle que tu veux sauver. [DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER OF THE ONE YOU WANT TO SAVE]

Delgado: 06 09 12 13 53
Rossi: 06 17 26 12 69'

It should have been subtitled, really, in my opinion.

'What does it matter what you say about people?'
Touch of Evil (Orson Welles, 1958).
