A very worthy ending
And that feels like a hopelessly inadequate statement, even for a headline.
Episodes fourteen, fifteen and sixteen were all a beyond worthy ending of these five years, and the best ever by far.
The creators showed that they knew their own myth, which is crucial, taking stock of the past they created and using it to make the great ending. They really focused on the details and making an effort to end this the best possible way.
The ending was bittersweet. Bittersweet is good.
They also raised the stakes to a proper level. She was truly as powerful as we were promised she would be.
There wasn't a single thing they didn't address, weaving together all the different threads in excellent ways, showing themselves to be true writers.
I liked that Tamsin died. Somebody had to, in order to not make the ending too sweet. This wasn't a Hollywood ending, far from that, thank the Goddess. I liked that Isabo and Lauren ended up together, but also that Dyson would be there for her when Lauren died.
She burned her past, opening herself up for the centuries to come.
This was one ending. They left it open, in a way, for more to happen, on or off camera. I'm content if there is never another episode or movie, though.
They dragged it out a little. They could have told the same story in two or at least three seasons, or perhaps only one, but I'm not complaining.
This was, from the start a special show and continued to be so, so far removed from the usual crap. Its occasional weaknesses didn't keep that from being the case.
It's even more impressive considering the low production costs.
