Odd Title - Silly Movie

I watched this movie over the course of a week. I could handle like 15 minute increments before I would get bored. Not much of anything happens. It's pretty thin on plot. Burned out adult film star has mental/physical breakdown and finds refuge at his parents' retirement community home, where neither they nor anyone else are aware of how he has earned a living as an "actor" for the better part of his adult life. While there, he imparts little nuggets of "wisdom" to the older residents, helping spice up their marriages and love lives, as only a porn star could. And lo and behold, his identity is discovered, and it almosts results in his parents being ousted from their home. But wait, the residents decide that he's not a bad person, and the parents get to stay after all. Yeah!!!

Now isn't that silly??? There's a love interest, of course. A pseudo-sexy sort of dippy woman who works in the local pharmacy, who takes a liking to our protagonist (and why not? He's the only man for miles under the age of 65) and could't care less about his adult film resume. There's one stock black character, one religious biblethumper, an emotially unexpressive father and a hyperemotional and overindulgent mother. Lots of golf carts and shuffleboard scenes, and a scene stealing square dance competition.

I know, I'm about to pass out, too. Let's not forget the greasy adult film director with the eastern bloc accent. Doesn't seem to mind terribly at the end that he's lost his no. 1 star.

What more can I say? Oh, yeah. The title, "Valley of the Sun." That's creative. It could also be the title of a NOVA special. Usually a title gives you some indication of what a film is about. This one doesn't. They could have just called it "Movie." Or something even more descriptive like, "Silly Movie with Odd Title."
