why so much praise, its *beep*

its won awards and great reviews but why i watched this and found it boring , slow, and pointless, it wasnt a story worth telling or one that needed telling.

and no im not someone who needs cgi, explosions and lots of action to enjoy a film

many of my favourite films are dramas but this was just rubbish

i would genuinly like to know why people think its so good

reply

I get the feeling that, if someone actually came to you with a reasoned response as to why they thought it was good, you'd ignore it, say 'that's stupid,' and call it rubbish again.

IMDB Comments. Because apparently, we let retarded people use computers.

reply

you shouldnt assume, if point is makes sense ill credit you.

i do think the film was rubbish, just because a few critics say its amazing doesnt make it so, this film felt unfinished, anticlimactic, slow, dull, and wasnt a story worth telling, it didnt go anywhere.

it wasnt a great mystery to who the killer was, the conclusion was lame, the characters were dull, and as i say the story wasnt worth telling.#

i thought it was going to eb a about a smalltown cop who no one respects for some reason who solves a great mystery/crime despite everyone being against him,but what we got was probably the most boring film ive seen.

You can't blame a movie for not having the plot you expected it to have.

But besides that, I don't get the praise either. Stormare was great, the photo nice, the music..eh... stood out. All in all, it had a certain charm, but it was far from a great movie.
On the other hand, did it get that good reviews? It won an award apparently, but so did The Room...

"Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down. Makes her home."

reply

But you CAN blame a movie for not having any plot at all.

true that. this is a plotless Mess.

Nothing more lazy or ridiculous than claiming a film is 'pointless' in a negative review.

reply

but this film was pointless, the story wasnt a great story to tell, it was pointless , poorley thought out, made little sense, left a lot of details out.

and it was just boring, dull, and very little happened.

ergo it was a bad movie

reply

You're not very bright, are you?

reply

im not bright because i found the film boring, erm no

if you watched this and thought it was an interesting story/entertaining then you must be easily pleased

reply

No. You're not bright because you continue to claim that a film is pointless because you didn't like it. There is always a point to doing something and that includes making a film. Your review is lazy and serves as nothing more than an insight into your inept film review skills.

reply

i look at this film objectively and take my own feelings out of it and even doing that it was still pointless and lazy.

how is my review lazy the only two things this film deals with s who the murderer is and the main cops anger problem

the murderer turns out to be the only suspect and the most obvious person which isnt thrilling its just boring even his motive are not explained

and the cops anger issue is never realy dealt with, and comes to no conclusion, they dont even address who he is beating up in his flash back.

its a poorely written and lazy film, the chaacters dont evolve, they have no personality really and the film is boring nothing happens, this is my opinion stop taking it personally.

reply

I don't have a problem with whether you liked it or not. I don't care. I thought it was an average film. My problem is withyou calling it pointless. Calling a film pointless is just lazy and incorrect. There is a point to all films. At the very least its point was to put some money in Peter Stormare's wallet.

Since you can't grasp this simple concept after several comments, you're obviously never going to get it. I guess some people are just born stupid.

reply

it was pointless, most films have a point even if its to entertain, this didnt even do that.

yes from the writers point to make money may have beenthere point, but as a viewer the story ad film was pointless. now *beep* off

reply

"There is always a point to doing something and that includes making a film....At the very least the point is putting some money in Peter Storemare's wallet." Uh, if that's the best you can do in coming up with a "point" to this film in response to several people finding it pointless (I thought it was unnecessarily murky myself), then just who is being "lazy"?

If EVERYTHING has a "point"--and presumably you're not talking about some wonderful mystical deity-created meaning we mere mortals cannot grasp--then why does the word "pointless" even exist? Because sometimes Timbzy, yes, people use that word to make a point.

What really is lazy, and epidemic on IMBD, is people calling others' opinions stupid without providing any intelligent argument as to WHY that opinion is stupid or just wrong. Which is why so many IMBD comment threads start with a reasonable-enough statement/question, then rapidly devolve into a "You're stupid!/No you're stupid!" bitchslapping festival. Zzzzzzz.

Well for your information and to finally give a point to this movie, I actually enjoyed it. It was a real life movie about a real life people.

reply

If you consider that most real life people have a real boring life yes that was a real life boring movie. But why do you want to see real life in a movie since you can have it for real in real life ? Making movies so boring shouldn't be allowed.

reply

No point in going on and on, I enjoyed it. Different people like different things and that's what makes this world a beautiful place (sometimes!). I recently saw 'Friends with benefits' and am now half way through 'No strings attached' and I have to say boooooooring and predictable! And in such bad taste, (for me anyway!!!!).

reply

I was also left with the feeling that its story was "pointless." No, not everything has to have a point, but in the case of drama and storytelling, to leave the audience with no good sense of what the point is in telling the story is not a good quality. If it is not obviously supposed to be surrealism or something, then we expect the characters to develop, the plot to "move" somewhere.
This actually reminded me of a lot of the Scandinavian crime thrillers in its look and feel, and I think maybe the appeal of that look makes some people like it. But unlike the good Scandinavian ones, this one has no interesting plot.

The movie poses a profound question: can people change? That's a big question, and the film does provide an answer.

I don't understand how anyone found it pointless or boring. I was riveted. I had no idea if Walter would crack and go after Steve or hold his composure. This is the conflict in the movie, not "Who killed the girl?"

The music, in my opinion, was perfect. It's a glimpse into the inner turmoil that Walter is experiencing. The fate of his soul is at stake. The music allowed the film to show the intensity of the moral struggle on the screen without resorting to melodrama.

I understand that people may not like this movie, and I certainly know some people who did not like the music, but really now, it seems like you didn't quite grasp the basic questions posed here or the weight of the answers given.

Awful movie. I watched it hoping for the best, and mainly because it was filmed partly near my hometown of London. Instead, it was just a steaming pile of crap that played out like an episode of CSI: London Ontario.

Pointless scenes like the one that showed the trailer being hauled down what I assume is Highway 4 (Richmond Street) in Lucan.
