A Chinese remake of Blood Simple set in what appears to be the 1700s...how *beep* bizarre! In all honesty this film can't lose, it's either going to be the greatest and most left-field remake in film history, or it's going to be so epically awful that no other Chinese director will ever try and remake a Coen Bros. film again haha. Either way the viewers win. And how about that title...

well remakes turning out awful havent stopped directors before, nor it will stop them now. and the movie ended up being average, so you were wrong on both occasions.

I thought this a very good movie. A bit slow in the beginning but once the murder happened I was glued tp the screen. It was fascinating to watch.
I sort of expected this remark. Oh well. I dont mean that the last good movie made was 20 years. merely that last movie i saw that was good was Misery, which happens to be that old.

The Coen Brothers loved it, hence the dedication to their film at the beginning. And the title is now Zhang Yimou's Blood Simple so that obstacle has been removed.
