Call it a copy if you like, but the rights were purchased from Stepmom. Stepmom is a sweet story very relevant to life in USA with so many "blended" families forced to get along for the sake of their own sanity as well as the children. I assume We Are Family will be adapted to Indian life. Stepmom was a tearjerker; looks like We Are Family won't be so much.

sharewho cares if its a copy or not...overwhelming majority of India will not have seen stepmom, even the overseas Indians will undoubtedly not even heard of stepmom, so this is a new movie to all of those people.

Many many Indians are fond of watching Hollywood movies and Stepmom is right there at the top among the popoular flicks. As for NRIs, it is next to impossible that they would not even have 'heard' of the movie. Seriously, where's the logic in that statement? Since they are overseas, there is more likelihood that they have heard of and seen popular hollywood movies.
I've heard of the movie 'Stepmom'..is this movie a projection of it..scene by scene..really? I'd think some things were changed, sure the relationships are the same..but I love the the way Bollywood add their own language and sort of "slang" to it. Also, it has to be at a much slower pace, as Bollywood films are an hour even longer than standard Hollywood movies!
