What About The Ending? (SPOILERS)

Can someone please explain the ending of this film? Was he kidnapping the kids, or was he evicted, or what?

Kidnapping. His exwife threatened to take full custody several times. He only had them for 2 weeks a year.

This movie messed with my head. He's a loving father and a dead beat. He was kidnapping them, he has nothing to live for aside from the kids. From what I could figure. this film is about what happens to a great deal of children that are kidnapped. This is on of the worst good movies I've ever watched.

Im seriously torn apart by this movie, it shocked me in an incredible way. I felt so horrible for Lenny and the kids and the end will definitely keep me awake tonight.
