I think they deserve an award for the worst advice given in any movie to a daughter.

And as for why she didn't accept help from her friend, or even the police (who lost interest in her as a victim when they recognised her as the famous pornstar)? It's a very common phenomenon for abused women to keep quiet out of shame and embarrassment, as well as the fear of beng disbelieved, not to mention the brainwashing and emotional manipulation they experience as part of the abuse.

They can't help it if their daughter is retarded. Her mom told her to stay with the guy because she thought he was a provider, but that argument shouldn't have meant anything to her since he was just a bum. Also she had more choices than living with her parents or living with him, but it's obvious that she was too dumb to do anything without being told what to do
