But.....Roger isn't a bear.

I don't know much about the bear scene or bear culture as it were, but just based on the film's definition, Roger is not a bear. Tyler reveals that he likes bears and then immediately falls for a man whose only resemblance to a "bear" is some facial hair. I think the movie kind of cops out when they have these two end up together without explaining that perhaps it wasn't neccesarily a bear that Tyler was looking for. And I don't even think that Roger was all that likeable anyway, but that's another discussion.

Sister, when I've raised hell, you'll know it!

Agreed. Tyler seemed to fall for a fellow bear chaser that was a non-bear.

Well if you don't know much about the bear scene or bear culture, how can you define what is a bear? I mean sure, everyone thinks that a "bear" in the gay community is a man who resembles a bear in the forest. Sometimes, but not necessarily so. True, most guys that fall under the description do have an amount of body hair or facial hair, but they don't have to be covered in it. The same can be said about their build. Most would only consider a round chubby guy to be a bear. Commonly yes, but wrong again. For bears of the human variety, the most common denominator is just a masculine guy, with some scruff to him. Usually blue collar and rugged, sort of gruff in nature. I am part of the bear community where I live, so I can tell you first hand that Roger may not look like anything sleeping in the forest, but in my community, he is a bear.

I saw Roger as a "Daddy Bear", he could also be a chaser, or an "otter".

That's why they didn't end up together.
