Music from film

towards middle of film when they arrive at the house of missing man and are setting up their equipment a piece of music starts to play with a female vocal. very haunting. reminds me of Dead Can Dance(or some other 4 a.d. label group)...any ideas?

Hi,

The music is performed by Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares and the track is called "Polegnala E Pschenitza".

You can hear it over this video here:

Thank you soooo much Simon!

edit: after checking out the Wikipedia link I see I was right about 4 a.d.-they were on that label! I knew it sounded familiar!

You're very welcome!

I really liked the track too and while I was looking up the performers, I found they were also responsible for another piece I'd known and loved for ages.

A compilation CD I bought back in the 90s included a track called "Love Chant" by The Bulgarian Voices.

Yesterday I learnt it is actually called "Polegnala e Todora"

Whatever the title, it really is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard:

I thought it sounded a lot like Lisa Gerrard.

It's too cerebral! We're trying to make a movie here, not a film!
