Why does this have a 4.3 rating?

Is it because of the title? The film looks great to me, I can't wait to see it.

It's the IMDB.com trolls who don't bother to see a black film. They just automatically give it a 1 rating.

So I guess metacritc is wrong too... What you mad at bro? Movie was just a straight up mediocre very soon to be forgotten money scam movie.

The film JUST opened this week---if you haven't seen it, then how the hell do you know whether it's any good or not? You DON'T. So just STFU, troll, and get over yourself. Critics can be wrong too, their words aren't written in stone, any damn way.

Yeah, I remember it happened with the TV show Scandal when the previews came on, people dismissed it as a "sassy black woman" show and rated it a 2.6 or 3.6, after the first episode, everyone was hooked and eventually changed their mind on it.

the storyline is not very clear. the music, however is good. it works as a musical in that sense, but the storyline is pretty one-dimensional. the acting is ok. tyrese had some good moments.

The Pawn Shop Scene with Vondie Curtis Hall was the best and most meaningful scene.

Maybe it's because even though they say it's based off of Langston Hughes "Black Nativity", it actually isn't.

Langston Hughes' "Black Nativity" is simply a retelling of the nativity story with black characters and gospel music, which this movie clearly isn't
