the clothing xavier wears in the film, i'm sure reflexes his everyday style. It suggests in my opinion a backround of art, independence and non corformite, as in no labels. I live in Montreal and oftentimes see people who wear that kind of outfit, bought used at the "village de valeur". I can't really pull that kind off outfit out, it suits skinny men. I'm muscular and simple...plain white shirt and jeans. however i think the guy wears it well....as for the film 10/10.

30 years living in Quebec and many of them in Montreal and I never saw anyone on the street dressed like that, and my people were pretty artsy, and we hung out at the old Cinema Parallèle and all the art cinemas and the museum. Nope.

They really do dress like that and even the soundtrack reflected this "hipster" style.
You should observe more.
I live there sugar, my family lives there, sure a couple of people dress badly anywhere you go, but this is not a 'trendy' style in Mtl by any stretch of the imagination. People dressing like that on the street get stares, just like in the film when the camera 'stares' at mom's flying sweater.
Maybe in your particular neck of the woods it's considered trendy, but not on the island as whole, nor downtown.

Tallard, what's up with immitating the french accent on a keyboard? Seriously... and Dolan's personal style is pretty much THE hipster trend in Quebec, btw. Pretty much all of my friends dress like that. Come and tell 'em it's not trendy in Quebec, you'll see for yourself! :)
