One of the more striking images

Possible spoiler!
One of the most striking images for me did not involve Imola '94. I had seen all those before. One I hadn't seen was the aftermath of Martin Donnelly's crash at Jerez in 1990. To see the mangled wreckage of his body still strapped to part of his car seat made me wince. The fact that he survived is miraculous!

one-upping a near-fatality with an actual one? classy

My point is how unlucky Ayrton was to succumb to his when some have survived much worse. What about Gerhard Berger on fire at the same corner? I've seen Gilles Villeneuve's fatal crash. Yeah, that was bad alright.

I totally agree about Martin Donnelly's crash, I'd never seen an image from it before, but it was shocking he came out of that alive. It was pretty disturbing to see. I still have no idea how Barrichello walked away from his accident at Imola '94, he was incredibly lucky. One of the worst for me was Tom Pyrce in '77 (I think) when he hit the 19 year old marshall crossing the track. It's almost unbearable to watch what happened. That, along with Roger Willamson. His death was heartbreaking.
