Brazil's football and Ayrton Senna
That was a fascinating and well assembled documentary. One thing I noticed was that several Brazilians said something like: Senna is the only good thing Brazil has right now. I wonder what they meant.
They could have been referring to economy. Brazil has, for a long time, been a country with one of the largest caps between rich and poor people. Perhaps there were some other current issues in Brazil's economy at the time.
Another possibility is that they could have been talking about football. Brazil had done several relatively unsuccessful football world cups by the late 80s. While their mortal enemy, Argentine, had won the world cup in 1986 and achieved the second place in 1990. Ironically, Brazil won the football world cup again in 1994, just a couple of months after Senna's death. So, Brazil lost their beloved formula driver but gained their football team in 1994.
