The Relationship

am i the only one who didn't see how they fell in love but just saw the lust? i'm not sure how they had much of a relationship besides their working one and in bed. the intensity was only portrayed through their passion, but other than that, i didn't feel they deeply loved each other. is it just me?

It has been a while since I watched this film so I am not too sure. But from what I remember there was a lot of lusting.

I may be wrong, but nothing springs to mind when I think of any real signs of a deep relationship, other than the effect each man had on the other towards the end of the movie.

Yeah I kinda agree with this. I was wishing they had more dialogue exchange between each other because they rarely spoke about anything after the attempted kiss on the roof. It made it a bit difficult to be pulled into the relationship more than what was given.

I felt the same, like love was never declared and so it was hard to feel how much to care.

However, I took it that he was a such a shy and private person that we were meant to feel it in other ways.

Also, it's possibly because in communities like that, romantic relationships are more formal and not as outwardly passionate, the way media has influenced and encouraged more modern societies to be.

The scene when he puts his hand on his face, however, was enough for me to get a sense of how deeply he felt for him. Such a small thing but for me, it really said a lot.

I think Ezri didn't, in fact, love Aharon. He was fulfilling a need. I kinda figured he was probably imagining Refa'el while sleeping with Aharon. That doesn't mean he didn't care for him or that he would have slept with anyone. I think Aharon was the only one who showed Ezri any kindness and that's what drew Ezri in and made him willing to substitute what he longed to have with Refa'el with what he could have with Aharon.

Aharon, on the other hand, I think was in love with Ezri in that way you're in love with your first love. Ezri was beautiful and talented, different and passionate, also vulnerable, but most of all he was the person through which Aharon got to discover a part of himself. That's why, I think, they say your first love is the worst (i.e. most intense?) one. Because it's you meeting yourself and what you're like when you're in love, what makes you fall in love and what falling in love is even like... And all of this through a particular person, so all of that intensity is tied to who them. That's who Ezri was to Aharon in addition to the "regular" things that attracted him to the young man.

No, you're right. There was little love between the two...unless you call suicide an act of love.

Life sucks, then you're reincarnated
