reply

He plays the role of a South African Rabbi wonderfully. I doubt anyone else could have done it better!

reply

I believe he is attempting a north London Yiddish accent, and is not meant to be a South African Rabbi. I may be wrong.

reply

If so, he seriously needs to perfect his accent!

reply

No its a minor part and he's not funny at all ( neither is the film ).

reply

The film is funny but Matt Lucas' character is not and he does have a small but recurring role, I think 3 scenes

reply

He was great in this film! He was the rabbi that wouldn't let the protagonist guy in to meet his dying father unless he became "more jewish".

Was it me or did he look extremely pale/white in this movie?!?

reply

he did look pale also, I swear he seemed to have no eyebrows

reply

He has no eyebrows. He suffers from alopecia, a condition which results in the complete loss of hair from all over the body. Hence no eyebrows.

reply

He's a terrible actor, and ruins the movie

reply

I bet theatredec is watching the infidel right now or was in the last 45 minutes or at least considered it

reply

Not funny, in fact rubbish.

Pseudo Spoiler!

Really, his character serves to set up the situation where it is entirely satisfying and hilarious for a rabbi to be punched in the face; at the point where it happens it makes some sense after the grief he has caused the main character. It still made me think "Whoah, he just punched a rabbi in the face!" - but I did laugh. One of the several moments where I did laugh in this movie.
