Started out good, but ruined by plot holes

The first two aren't THAT much of a stretch. They'd just found a girl buried in an underground chamber in the woods... they start getting shot at. I don't know why they'd think anyone BUT the kidnappers were shooting at them. Melissa George made an assumption about the rope being cut--so what?

I do agree that Melissa George probably would've had more damage done to her from that fall but again... it wasn't anything that took me completely out of the movie.

1. It looked like a really clean cut, and as an experienced mountain climber, she probably could tell the difference between jagged cuts from rocks and a clean knife cut. Also, mountain climbing rope would be expected to hold up against some sharp rocks. Be pretty useless if it couldn't.

2. Like the person above said, it seemed like a pretty safe assumption.

3. Yeah, I agree. She should not have been able to get up and walk away after that. It wouldn't have been as good of a movie though if she just laid there, unable to move, so I guess we just suspend our disbelief on that one.

I think if she had been on a usual trip, she might have wondered. But when you just found a little girl abducted and see a rope like this, you're certainly going to conclude it's foul play.


I agree the fall was too much but only so far as it contrasted with the tone of the film. I think the director tried to walk the line between a gritty thriller and an action movie.

This comment was way more stupid then anything in the movie. Okay, it could have been hunters who tought they were animals, but in that case it would have been blind and *beep* stupid hunters. I'm guessing you don't go to the woods that often.

She also looks up at the top of the cliff and sees a dark figure stepping away. Maybe she jumped the gun on "murder" but she had right to be suspicious, and her suspicions were correct.

all of the points are non starters for me

a rock climber knows the difference between man made clean cut and wear and tear (which wouldnt cut through climbing rope so suddenly anyway)

if i had just found a girl in a mad made box underground and shots start pinging about, it would take, lets see....a few nanoseconds to make 2+2 = 4 with regards to the shootings.

falling doesnt kill you, its the impact, and dont lets forget she lands in water. sure she has some nasty tumbles on the way down, but mostly non rigid foliage, totally feasible that she walked away from this, after all, in reality people have survived far worse mountain falls onto hard surface!
