Don't watch it unless it has sub titles. It's a sub par English flick

It's a turn off when you watch a film with people in it that speak Scottish, Irish, hooligan or what have you alien english accent. No hard feelings for those who are from THOSE part walks of life but I'm sure many must agree it draws 100% of our concentration just to decipher what the heck people are saying in their dialogue. Except for one american chick the rest are like from the UN committee who tries to speak english with their native accent attached. Seriously we watch flicks to be entertained but not to make things hard in our lives.

I'm not even a native English speaker, yet I found no problems understanding the dialogue. I find it odd that fairly many people complain about it.

I don't know about your nationality nor any of the others', but maybe it's an American thing? I've seen more than a few American tourists absolutely flummoxed in London on my visits there.

It's definitely an American thing. This is the country that for the longest time you couldn't find a copy of Mad Max that had the original Australian dialogue track because some distributor decided that American audiences wouldn't respond well to the accents or know what a "windscreen" was. It's a sad commentary on the American Centralist attitude.

I'm still laughing at the OP's "alien english" comment. Last I checked, English is English and American English is technically the alien of the two.

The only issues I had with the dialogue were when our protagonists were discussing what to do after they found the girl and the mercenaries when they were speaking in the car. Neither of these issues had anything to do with accents and had everything to do with them speaking in a low voice.

Overall, there wasn't a good amount of volume leveling in this film when it came to dialogue as there were parts like these, and other times (the parade) where you'd get blown out. It didn't detract from the film for me; it's more of an annoyance to have to keep adjusting the volume of the television.

You sound like an idiot, and more than likely are just a troll.

If you have trouble following different dialects of the English language, just turn on the subtitles. I turned the subtitles on because I found myself missing a word here and there. It hardly took away from the movie.

My advice would be to watch more english movies. The more you watch the more your comprehend. American movies aren't made with english accents, why should English movies be made with american accents?

A "sub par English flick"? My, what a connoisseur you must be. Let's see now. To date it's taken more than six times its budget. That's a lot more than the majority of Hollywood films. In April 2011, it had its world premiere at the Actionfest Film Festival in Asheville, North Carolina where it was awarded 'Best Film' and 'Best Director'.

Just because you have some mental deficiency which prohibits you from understanding spoken English doesn't make it a bad film.

Wow, the OP is really offensive. Would they prefer everyone in movies spoke with the same American accent. If a film is set in Scotland people should be speaking with Scottish accents. Methinks this person just can't be bothered to pay attention. The film was filmed on location in Scotland so is technically a Scottish movie.

Technically it depends on a number of things, especially where the financing came from and other esoteria. Also where the stars, director, producers and other stuff came from. In that way we were able to claim the title 'British' for films like Batman, Mamma Mia, The Dark Knight, Quantum of Solace all made in 2008 and which produced some $3.75 billion.

Having said that, there was nothing at all untoward about the Scottish accents, and even if the OP missed a word or two it would hardly have ruined the film. Your description of the post as "offensive" is dead-on.

I truly think that is a seriously inaccurate stereotype desperately used to further bash Americans. Every foreign film shown in cinemas here shows subtitles as opposed to being dubbed over in English. I've only actually known a few people in my life who refuse to watch movies with subs because "it's distracting" and only one of them was American. Then there's the fact that many cinemas in Europe DON'T offer subtitles on foreign films and are instead dubbed, but somehow Americans are the "lazy" ones in this manner.
