EVEN THE RAIN VS Foreign Oscar Nominees

I have not yet seen a single Oscar nominated Foreign Language Film from last year, partly by choice (Dogtooth, Biutiful) and partly due to them not being released here yet (Incendies, In a Better World, Outside the Law), but I find it very hard to believe that EVEN THE RAIN isn't better than some if not all of them. I was pretty impressed with it. I thought it had a ton going for it, including some great characters, good acting, an interesting film within a film ordeal, and a beautiful look. I liked a lot about it. It was a little on the nose though.

Anyways, I am curious as to whether anyone has seen some of these films nominated last year and how they stack up vs EVEN THE RAIN?

You HAVE to see "Dogtooth", it's amazing. Amazing in a weird way, I admit, but it's a fantastic film. "In A Better World" is full of clichés. There were tons of better foreign films out there last year (well, every year!). "Incendies" is great, yes. As for "Even The Rain", I think it is better than "Outside The Law" or "In A Better World" but nowhere near as memorable as "Incendies", "Dogtooth" or "Biutiful".

Dogtooth was a horrible film (even as a fan you have to admit that "horrible" is -in some sense- an appropriate description). I didn't really feel like it had anything to say. It seemed to have a sadistic sense of humour and even as a fan of black comedies, it simply did not appeal to me.
