BBC 4 (UK)

This film premiered on BBC 4 tonight in the UK :) Who got to see it?

yes, wow, what a film....very impressive. It's a pity it's generally only arthouse cinemas which tend to show foreign language films, especially ones with a fascinating, factual political background like this. Although Bernal is one of my favourite actors of recent years, it was Karra Elejalde's performance that really impressed with some great lines. Well worth staying up for.

Glad you liked it. This film has had little publicity and wasn't released in the UK art cinemas until early 2012! Gael is one of my favouirte actors too but from the film my favourite was Juan Carlos Aduviri - what a great face he had.

Just finished watching it on BBC iPlayer. What a powerful and moving film. I also thought Luis Tosar was excellent - his character's change from being a hard-bitten film producer to a courageous human being was something to behold. I agree about Juan Carlos Aduviri, he had one of those faces that abides through the centuries. The format of the film's historical story created in parallel to the present-day conflict really worked well.

I remember it being Mark Kermode's film of the week when it was released in the UK, but I didn't get the opportunity to see it at the cinema. Glad I've been able to watch it at last.

I'm glad you enjoyed the film. It's my favourite film from 2010 even though I didn't get to see it until 2012! As you know I agree about Tosar and the development of his character after the cynical veneer is removed.

I saw this at the cinema and have the dvd. It's a fantastic film: clever storylines that interweave, good and charistmatic acting and a film that doesn't shy away from the politics of corruption that infect the 'good guys' too.
