Good movie, could have been great!

I really like this movie. All the actors were superb, especially Adam butcher and the guy who played Banks. I thought it was exciting and at times nerve wracking as I would wait to see what would happpen to these characters next. After watching it a few times, however, I've decided that if it had been longer and with more of a fleshed out story it could have been an amazing film, as it is I gave it a seven. In my honest opinion, a few things that could have been expanded on to make for a better film would be:

-more backstory for the main trio of boys

-scenes of Angel's interactions with other inmates (does he really not get bullied??)

-butch's interactions with shadow

-more developed build up and aftermath of Davis' suicide

-a scene that explains why every inmate has decided to come together for a hunger strike, instead of just notifying the audience that there is one going on by having a CO blatantly announce it.

-I would have liked to see butch's final beat down of the kid who raped Davis be a little more graphic

-a resolution of the subtle conflict between goodyear and butch after the CO shoves him and gets on his bad side
