If you watch the movie, you'll notice he gets beaten and raped in the laundry room. He then tries to talk to butch, who kinda blows him off as he's pissed about his friend. He can't take it, so he killed himself.

He bleed out after being punch multiple times plus being raped.
He was trying to get ahold of him mom to get help.
He killed himself. Here is the scene from the original script.
We didn't film it like this, so I understand the confusion.

Davis steps on the ladder to climb his bunk. The loose metal
bed springs squeak louder.
An angry determined look on his face, Davis now thinks for a
beat.
He strongly yanks a loose spring and pulls it out of the
frame. It is long and sharp.
He slips into his covers.
Davis closes his eyes. His respiration grows faster.
We can detect his movements from under the blanket. He slits
his wrists.
FADE TO BLACK.

He CLEALRY killed himself. You can see the movements of him slitting his wrists.... Why does everyone on IMDB need to be spoon fed everything?
