Wish this wasn't a faux Documentary format.

The format is just so tiring.

Oh a film crew is going to follow us around.
Why?

A straight up left comedy would have worked just as fine.

All that matters is the diversity. It makes us all stronger. And better. And it makes looting stores so much easier.

Shut up, you stupid troll. This seems to be a pretty good show so far. I don't know why idiot trolls like you who clearly haven't watched the show say stupid ignorant s*** like this. You said that dumb s*** only because this is a black show, and you little stupid comment wasn't even funny.

reply

All shows must be black shows. Every commercial must include black people. If you can see it, you can be it. Diversity is our strength.

reply

Shut up, troll. No one is saying that except your ignorant a**. Diversity simply meaning having shows featuring all different kinds of people and not just white people, who are still the majority on TV. So I don't know why the hell your dumb a** is even whining about diversity when you don't even understand what the hell it is. Usually idiots like you don't even know what it means---go look it up, since you clearly don't know. White people are not the only people who watch TV---they're always dominated it. This show also won several nominations for Best New Show and other things---it's actually pretty good, because it's realistic, it's really funny, and it's nice to see a show focuses on black teachers and the struggles they have to deal with concerning their students for a change: https://www.emmys.com/shows/abbott-elementary

Plus it just started its second season, which I can't wait to start watching again.

The Office did that format for a decade, and it worked just fine for the show. Why not in a school? It's usually hilarious when done right.

reply

Because it's a played out format. Parks and Rec toned it down after a few seasons.

My wife and I (mid-70's) are loving this show, and I don't mind that format, but the Armchair Director in me says yeah, the looks-to-camera shtick is a bit overdone in this series. We've just started watching it...we're on ep 6 or 7 of Season One, so I don't know if it gets dialed back a bit. Hope so. Office, Parks and Rec, All In the Family, and others have made this a definite genre, and this seems to be another good one.

I may have spoken too soon.
I have no problems with the format now.
Show is great.
