watered down version of the book

Too bad, Reece Thompson and Kris Kristofferson are well cast and the rest of the cast wasn't bad either. The only weak spot was Hilary Duff, who was too old for the part and didn't fit the physical descriptions from the book.

Despite the strong cast, the movie glossed over so much good material from the book. It felt like a watered down, simplistic, even PG-13 (although it was rated R) version of the book. It's too bad, because with this cast, it could've been an excellent movie.
