Universal's hot streak continues

Yet another $20 million budgeted profit bonanza. It. Just. Doesn't. Stop.

reply

How much profir has it made ?

reply

28 million ww, are you feeling ok queen?

reply

That's just after the first weekend with only a $20 million production budget. It is sure to end up VERY profitable by the end of its theatrical run. What is so hard to understand about that?

reply

Its not profitable yet is it though

reply

Give it another week...unlike the 200 million-budgeted AM3.

reply

Oh yeh i forgot you despise disney for some strange reason and jump on the bang waggon when other studios make small profits on low budget movies, when did your hate for disney manifest? Was it the marvel v dc era? Were you team snyder?

reply

Ill take that as a yes lol

reply

Will easily make $100m.

reply

Yes.

reply

Hopefully it would cover the enormous loss of Bros.

reply

$35 million budget according to this article:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/box-office-marvel-s-ant-man-3-gets-mauled-by-cocaine-bear-suffers-record-697-percent-drop/ar-AA17XpLM

reply

shhhh dont let queen know that, has his hopes pinned on this movie to he can gloat how universal is fantastic and how its better than Disney

reply

Made 90 million. Even by the outdated standarts thats 20 mil profit, but the reality is that box office is less than half of earnings nowadays. Especially for movies that arent CGI blockbusters.

reply

is universal a good company to root for?

reply

They are an amazing company as far as producing one responsibly budgeted smash after another. They are also the reigning king of animation...and it's not even close.

reply

Queen doesn't like disney very much so actually doesn't care about movies, just studios that have a hot streak now again so queen can troll the disney boards, definition of a troll, think queen may of been employed by disney or is a dc v marvel fan, and still trolls disney after 15 years, when disney does well queen is no where to be seen, hey queen, whats the highest grossing movie so far this year?

reply

Whats the highest grossing animation movie ever queen?

reply

Queen doesn't know how box office and profit work, i wouldnt pay attention.

reply

I know you're a troll, but...

Cocaine Bear cost $35 million to make, and at least that much has been spent marketing this film. Ads have been everywhere. Unlike, oh, I don't know, say, a Marvel film, there is little opportunity here for any sort of corporate sponsorship or licensing. I don't expect any Cocaine Bear Happy Meals to show up at McDonald's, or a Cocaine Bear Uno games on Target's shelves. I've yet to see a kid with a Cocaine Bear lunch box.

In any event, despite your gleeful post, the film is currently about $52 million away from breaking even. I'm rooting for it-- nothing like a bear hopped up on cocaine eating people-- and am going to see it tonight with 3 others.

Worth noting-- we'll have to drive half an hour to see it, as it's not playing at very many theaters. Even the nearby 20-screen and 9-screen Cinemarks don't have it. If it gets a wider release it may make more, but then again, it will probably need to make more to earn such a release; a sad Catch-22 faced by smaller films.

reply

Queen has been doing this for many many years, will criticise a Disney movie, but under similar circumstances will then praise a release from a rival studio, recalled when queen said avengers end game had a huge drop and didn't have legs, i mean the film made 2.8 billion yet queen will find fault, doesnt actually care about movies just trolls Disney, creates these posts to bait people. not sure where the hate for Disney came from but its rather bizarre to see over the years.

reply

My pet theory is that he works for Disney, and is paid to troll in an obviously ludicrous fashion to make the anti-Disney crowd look moronic. And honestly, if he isn't being paid by Disney to do this, he should be, because his posts always serve to rally people to post rational responses that paint Disney in a positive light.

reply

Bingo

reply

Are you really suggesting that this movie had more promotion than MCU movies do?

reply

That's not what I wrote. I pointed out that whereas nearly all of the promotional costs for a Marvel film are underwritten by corporate partnerships-- meaning Disney pays effectively zero to market its films-- in the case of Cocaine Bear, such partnerships are nearly non-existent. Coupled with the lack of merchandising that also serves to pad the profits of a Marvel film, a movie like Cocaine Bear must rely nearly entirely upon ticket and home video sales to reach profitability.

reply

It certainly does, another universal flop, crisis in the halls of universal this year lol
