Cheesy...

This show is so cheesy. I mean 'Then they are my friends, too' can it get any cheesier?

reply

Not cheesy enough for you not to watch it apparently.

reply

No you're right, I've watched every episode so far. I think it's good show. It's just very very cheesy.

No one here realizes, as adults, that using the word "cheesy" makes you sound as bad as you feel the show is? What are you, kids of the early 90's to be using that type of childish language?

reply

Sorry, didn't know it isn't allowed to use that word anymore. What should I say instead? Tacky? Corny? Drippy? Brummagem?

btw I'm German and what I wanted to say was 'kitschig' oder 'schmalzig'. Which have Yiddish origins I guess so maybe some of guys understand it. ;)

reply

Oh I don't care... It was kind of making me laugh. Brought me back to the early 90's when everyone used to say it.

If it was like real life, people would be bored. If someone see's an explosion they say "Whoa! Holy Crap! Awesome!". T.V. producers and the writers of the show make it like that so people will tune in. Go watch Rookie Blue, it is one, gigantic, cliche.

I seen't you rip a mans jawbone off! I SEEN'T IT!

reply

I don't know that I'd classify it at kitschy or schmaltzy, though.
Or even cheesy.

Maybe prone to facepalm inducing dialog now and again. I tend to think that all those other words lend themselves more to sitcoms and the like. I don't think they really apply to the forgotten, but then again, so much of a word is the connotation it has to an individual. But I agree that there are definitely moments that receive a huge eye roll from me, but I'm willing to put that aside for a show that is for the most part fairly well acted and has at least a hint of originality. Sad that television these days requires such lowered standards.

And yeah, I just described something as "facepalm inducing," come and get me interwebs word police!
