Just a few questions......

If the riverboat is nuclear powered why is smoke coming out the smokestack? To fool people? There was no wood or coal on board so what was making smoke?
The shoulder fired WOODEN barreled rocket launcher was amazingly accurate and effective. Did THAT have alien technology also?
And If Burton had it why didn't he use it against the boat when it first appeared?
If the airship is also nuclear powered and the ship needed no gasoline why did the engine catch fire? It should have been steam powered like the boat. Was the airship fusion engine making gasoline?
I could overlook the (non)Japanese chick with the (non)Japanese accent since she was hot, could kinda swordfight and had advanced blacksmithing skills.
I wanted to like this movie but the plot had more holes than a chunk of swiss cheese.

The only one I can partially answer is the smokestacks. IIRC in the books Clemens has the ship made with fake smokestacks and the ability to belch smoke as a vanity element despite the fact that the ship is batacitor powered and doesn't actually produce any smoke.

Regardless of any individual POV & her ability to satisfy it - Jeananne Goossen, who portrayed Tomoe, is in fact half-Asian & her father a professor of Japanese Literature.

But do not forget the most important fact raised earlier, Juke, Ms. Jeanne is beyond smoking hot! Another Lucy Liu...

But my question is; what was the name of the homicide bomberette?

Other obvious questions I had were about the engineering required to build River Boat or a Zeppelin. Also, the rope from the Zeppelin was made from a manufactured steel or aluminum. Where did they refine the metals? Where did manufacture everything that goes into building both of these ships? Howe about the swords? Where did they come from? Oh yes, and the guns... Where did the gun powder come from and the manufacturing necessary to create precise munitions.

How about the aliens that destroyed earth? Was the blue people the aliens that destroyed earth, or someone else? Were all humans taken to River World or only those who could make a difference? The Blue people seemed to have access to dead people for over hundreds of years, but we didn't see any Romans or Greeks.

I didn't mind the mix of actors. My favorite was also the Samurai chick (Jeananne Goossen). Matthew should have taken her and told her that Jessie was in the past and she was his future.

Even though I loved the show, I wanted more. I also wanted more questions answered. All of my above questiosn could have explainable answers, but during the mini series they didn't take the time to answer them. It would probably require a series to answer most of the questions, but this mini series was not enough.

If there was a series, I would have watched it.

We saw the machine that gave out meals and we also saw a sort of recharging beam for the whatever flux capacitor in the boat. It seemed like things were provided as desired might be a better word than needed, maybe wishing made it so. Twain did say it took him eight years to rebuild the boat or make another one in the end. I mean if you get down to it, somebody had to make those clothes clean again and where did the cigars and liquor come from. Perhaps some sort of device like in star trek where they were 'made' molecule by molecule. The horse was a robot, okay replicator is what I mean. I have heard of ghosts that still are smoking cigarettes, they are just there for them. I guess a lot of suspension of disbelief was involved.

The one that got me was the History Professor guy who was wearing glasses. If people took personal items with them outside their clothing, wouldn't they also have the contents of their pockets such as combs, wallets, keys?

Simple. It's a movie. A "SyFy" movie. Written by hacks who never published a line. It is what it is . . . Television in it's normal state--inane and clueless.

Those were the ONLY holes you could find? I had to park my brain in neutral while watching this. It was mindless fun, but nothing to get serious about. I kept wanting to see a lot more of the "Japanese chick."
