I think the OP means to drop Ali. Anyway, I agree with Tresix, it wasn't a knockdown. Ali tripped and Wepner (a total bum) was standing on his foot. Ali told the referee too, but like Tresix said, he was totally oblivious. I saw the fight, if you can call it that, and Ali carried Wepner.
George Chuvalo was the real Rocky. Check out The Last Round Chuvalo vs Ali. Or just check out the fight. Chuvalo took Ali the distance like Rocky did with Apollo Creed. The fight looked like a Rocky fight. Chuvalo kept taking shots from Ali and kept going after him. I also noticed how Chuvalo went to the body just like Rocky did. Rocky broke Apollo's ribs and Chuvalo gave Ali kidney damage and put him in the hospital.
I am so sick of people saying Chuck Wepner was the real Rocky. Chuck Wepner was a bum. He couldn't fight, did nothing but rabbit punch, and he was carried by Ali, until Ali knocked his ass out in the last round. Wepner is such an ass that he goes around telling people he's Rocky. What's worse, he tells people he knocked Ali down. Ali did go down, but it was because he tripped. Wepner was standing on his foot. Wepner didn't take Ali the distance and didn't knock anyone down. Wepner never made a fight of it or hurt Ali once. He should be glad Ali was nice enough to carry him.
Stallone saw the fight and was inspired by the idea of someone with virtually no chance going the distance with the champ. That's about it. Rocky could fight, he wasn't a bum, really did knock the champ down, really did go the distance, did very well in the fight, and did not rabbit punch. Rocky was good looking too. Not an ugly pug-faced bleeder. I also want to point out that Chuvalo and Rocky both made a fight of it, hurt the champ, and were still standing after the final bell. Unlike Wepner.
