It's necessary to see such things . . .

I read some reviews of this movie, and many complained about yet another Holocaust movie. I don't think one can make too many works of art, especially in popular media like film, about the evils, big and small, that people are capable of. We should be reminded of this potential because it goes on today, around the world. I felt this film was very effective for bringing this to the attention of yet another generation. I especially valued it for three aspects: how official and legalized oppression can bring out latent prejudices and hates, how people are the same in their individual potential for good or bad, and how heros can emerge without prediction from the circumstances of real life.

One thing that struck me in this movie, which I did not notice in others, was the music. The Nazi's were playing music while torturing and killing other human beings. Like it was some big celebrations. Sick bastards.

What you say is very interesting, my grand-father and his brothers were all caught (they were all classical musicians) and made to play in the camp orchestra. When there were visits, especially from the red cross, they were told to give the best performance so as to act like everything wasn't as bad as the rumors told...
That said, my own grand-father was saved by music, ironically, and also by a Polish man!

Yeah the nazis were sick, evil, wicked ad nauseum. However the amount of Jewish holocaust movies is closing the gap fast. Where's the movies for example about the so-called Irish famine when their rulers, the brits, were exporting food? But the brits aren't sick evil and wicked so can't make those kind of films. History is full of this stuff and I agree it's time to move on from THE holocaust?

Not defending the nazis, not condemning the brits. History is what it is and after close to 70 years of these movies the point has been made.

Indeed most of Nazi are evil. But does that mean every member of the Nazi party are monster? There are happened to be manage to utilize their inner beast. There are some Nazi members who still represent the humanity. Oskar Schindler is Nazi member, but he saved more than 1.200 Jews. Georg Ferdinand Duckwitz also a Nazi member who sneak 6.000 Jews to Sweden. Or even Albert Göring which his brother ( Hermann Göring) a leading member of Nazi Party, actively opposing the Nazi itself. We can't judge, just because s/he a Nazi, mean s/he is 100% evil. Maybe a German people would know more about their own history.

I get the impression that while most Nazis were severely brainwashed by Hitler and blindly followed him as a result, there were some Nazis that secretly questioned the brutality and cruelty of the notorious German dictator during that time period.
