Kill the Irishman stats- Impressive!

From Indiwire:

Going out on two separate theatrical tracks—specialized through Landmark (Sunshine in N.Y. and on 3rd Street in L.A., as well as commercially where it opened in Cleveland (the land of this legendary gangster and yet telling a story never told before putting The Irishman on a par with Al Capone in Chicago and Lucky Lucciano in New York) in three theaters last week and expands to six more this second week, Kill the Irishman is given a 82% audience rating by Rotten Tomatoes and a 65% critics rating, making it rank 4th highest with only The King’s Speech, The Fire and True Grit above it.

After some quiet weeks on the arthouse scene, Jane Eyre and Kill the Irishman did their part to liven things up a bit. Jane Eyre posted the year’s top per-theater average for an opening weekend, while Kill the Irishman marked a new high for distributor Anchor Bay Films with the second highest B.O. per screen in 2011.

Vincent D’Onofrio’s star rating has risen these past two weeks!

Hey Rick, what are the chances it'll make its way to Baltimore any time soon?

Cheers

I could die right now, Clem. I'm just... happy. I've never felt that before.

Finally saw it, thought it was really good (minus a few issues with some setails like license plates, crosswalk sign, etc). Am trying to find out the budget for this movie, I want it to do well for everyone. Are folks happy with he results so far?

Whenever you look up, there I shall be -- and whenever I look up there will be you.

Comsidering the viewers like this so much, why do you think it is not getting a wider release? Is Anchor Bay rushing it to DVD? Once people hear it will be available, they just wait for that..I know I do.

reply

Clearly Anchor Bay didn't want to, or couldn't, fund a wide release. It's very expensive, you know. And they're attempting to broaden their horizons with several other theatrical releases as well. So their budget simply may not have allowed for a wider release for Kill the Irishman.
