Why did the writers do this horrific thing to us? (Spoilers)

Why the *beep* would they kill Zeek in the last episode , yes it looked as though he died peacefully but we all knew he had very limited time left to live ,so why play with our heart strings like that , why not just leave it to the viewers to decide inside out imaginations that he kept going for for a few more months.

Makes me sick the writers would do this , complete idiots.

They definitely could have left it open ended, but his death really packed a punch and gave the finale the depth that the writers wanted. Parenthood always prided itself on being super emotional, and symbolically, there was no better way to end it than by killing off the big family patriarch, then showing that despite their grief, life continued on for all the characters. He left his legacy, he lived on through his children and grandchildren, and that was it.

That said, I don't think anyone involved on the show could truly grasp how powerful this show was for fans, even in its final episodes. By then, they knew that this was something special and that there was an extremely loyal fan base out there, but I don't think they could totally comprehend how huge it really has become, or how much people still crave the Bravermans. If they did, maybe they would have made a different choice creatively with the final storyline. It's just a sad example of a show that was exploding with potential and just didn't get the recognition it needed to keep going. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that a revival will happen eventually. It's just a matter of them writing up the script, picking a release date, and getting the actors to sign on the dotted line. It's a given. The only downside is that Zeke's involvement in any future project will be limited, and that's too bad.
