At what point did Caldwell realize it was Dexter who killed his son?

I must have been out of the room when that reveal happened.

I DO remember a scene where Caldwell mentions the "snow" on the night he was drunk at the bar with Dexter and he realized it was the ash from the furnace. Sometime after that he seemed to figure out it was Dexter. But how?
