I'm a bit concerned!

This was a great family movie! I'm 21 and I saw it at the cinemas twice. Although in Australia, it was released like 3 months ago and the movie has now hit the internet. Anyone else think the dvdrip online is gonna affect the total box office considering it is yet to be released in the US?

This is a really great film ... terrific scripts, acting. direction, music and an all too rare film for the whole family.

Sadly though, while many people feel that stealing films, music and other copyright material is either harmless or an act of rebellion against those "big bad studios", it does have a huge effect on the income stream and I'm sure that what you fear will to some extent be true.

This film deserves to do extremely well at the box office and lets hope those who have invested money in it get the financial rewards they deserve.

And too those people who rip music and films, may the bad karma you create follow you through your lives.

You're a *beep* idiot.

likewise you twit. I take it from your your post that you think stealing is ok? I would also assume that you do it too. I can also assume you've never done anything creative in your life or you couldn't hold the views you do.

I'm a muso ... if I write a song I want to get paid for it and not have people steal my work. If you do a days work do you want to get paid? If you invest money in something successful do you want to earn profits?

If you can't see the common sense in that may the bad karma you create for yourself follow you through your life.

I steal movies, games, w/e all the time. About your creative comment, lawl okay. I'm a musician, vocalist, and I do artwork for famous bands and record labels as my daily job. Here's the thing though, I'm the kind of person who doesn't like going out into the movie theater, sitting in dirty ass seats, eating the over priced food they have, and dealing with the crazy people in the theater on opening night(granted I live down the street from detroit)

Until the movie theaters come out with another medium for displaying new movies that doesn't require me to go out to a dingy theater and have a *beep* experience, I'll continue to steal. And I'm not just gonna wait til it comes out on dvd/bluray. Than I get to deal with all my friends talking about a new movie and months later I finally get to be in on the joke when they don't care about it anymore.

Analogboi congrats on getting that work. ( And yes, analog was great eh! I still have some analog synths that are just sublime to listen to!)

But, IMO your excuses though are just silly rationalisations for just not wanting to spend the money. Like you have to go on opening night! Like you have to buy the food! And you could take something to sit on to save your bum from the dirty seats! I get the feeling you're just pulling my leg a bit.

And what's the excuse for stealing music in all that?

Sorry, but how would you like to do a commissioned piece of artwork thats been accepted, show it to a friend who unknown to you takes a photo, posts it on the web and the record company says sorry, cats out of the bag, can't use it anymore. Once, maybe you wouldn't care but if that happened over and over again, well . . . .

If someone does a days work, even if it's in the arts, and people like and want it, they should pay for it. Just like any other work that anybody does. Simple logic to me. And any excuse I've ever heard is just rationalising not wanting to spend the money. It is stealing.

Copying without first getting a permission for that is not stealing. No one before recent times would buy the outrageous lie that making a copy of something is the same as stealing it despite the fact that nothing is actually stolen from its owner. It was always seen as the responsibility of rulers --the government-- and the rich to compensate writers and performance artists for their work with generous gifts and salaries. Only in the modern age, those governments and rich people decided to find a cunning way to put that responsibility on the shoulders of the common people. The cunning way found for this dumping of responsibility was the invention of copyright, which the rich and powerful unashamedly presented as a God-given sacrosanct right although it had never been a right in any religion or belief system before. It is funny how these common people take this invented fake right so seriously and defend it instead of demanding and ensuring (through various methods of political mobilization) true sponsorship and financing of art and literature by the people who actually have a moral obligation to do so according to all ancient traditions. Really funny and sad.

Vampireshotgun, I don't actually believe in it as a hocus pocus thing either. I do believe though that if a person lives their life in for example a dishonest way regarding stealing movies and music, then it creates a mindset that will influence other decisions in other aspects of their lives relating to other ethical decision. The dishonesty and the rationalisation behind it will start working in other situations.

I do hope though that in those later situation those decisions lead those people to where their work, and the rewards they would have made from it, are stolen so they too can experience that feeling/repercussion/consequence.

I'm going to assume that those of you who think it's ok to steal movies and music don't sit around making judgements about what should happen to other people because "they broke the law". You're the reason the rest of us have to pay an outrageous amount of money to take our kids to the movies. You're not only taking money from the movie studios- you're taking it from hard working people who just want a nice experience with their kids once in a while.

This concerns me too. Though, I am guilty of watching movies online, I would never upload one. Right now, the only reason I watch it online is because my family and I can barely afford the internet and certainly can't afford to buy or go see a movie whenever we want. So, the internet is the only way I've been able to see a lot of the movies I love. But, I'll tell you one thing, I feel rotten every time. And, just as soon as I'm able, I will be adding to my DVD collection, by legally buying them. That will make up for it, hopefully.

I am the movies I love! (^_^)
