Loved the Cardboard Gurad!

Stunning special effects.
Only saw the beginning so far. So they screw up the weather and create the crazy lightning storm. The lightning strikes the guard shack and it blows up as if it was an ammunition dump. A little excessive but what the hell. Who doesn't like a good explosion. Well they must be saving some money because it looked like the 'guard' that was standing next to it when it blew up was a cardboard figure. You can see it falling over and it definitely looks flat! Funny s***. If you've got it on Tivo, run it in slow mo and you'll see.

You're mistaken. The guard is "swapped" with a CG one just before the explosion happens. When the explosion goes off, the guard goes flying through the air (we never see him hit the ground), while a piece of wood (from the door?) falls EXACTLY where the guard was standing.

I can see where you'd think that, though.

This scene cracked us up - an exploding guard shack, who knew?

Couldn't figure out, tho, why, if they could zap storms in Miami, Peri and Afghanistan they couldn't do anything about the storm they started in LA. Lousy junior college scientists....
