There's something I still don't get...

There's been something on my mind ever since I finished the series. And that something is: What the hell is a Neet? That's a word that is constantly used throughout the show and I still have no idea what it means! Can someone help me out here and tell me what a Neet is? I may have missed something or it was and I don't remember, so someone clarify for me please.
