re; Highly recommended

Just received the Region B blu-ray in the USA. I was doubtful that the movie would play in the cinema. It is a pity since the scenery was stunning. It is in my opinion a masterpiece in acting and cinematography. Hope it gets the attention it deserves from the viewers.

nowadays you can MAKE scenery with CGI

I've seen similar scenery in my own back yard.

reply

With a budget of only $6.5 million I doubt you could afford much CGI.

what a droll response!

yeah...just like it worked for Lucas in Episode 1 right>?.... agree... terrible response... just rented this... herter... thanks for the recommendation.... looks like a good flick...

The CGI now is much better than 10 years ago or whenever Episode one was put out.

A masterpiece, really ?
I thought it was a tv movie, saved too some extent by good actors, but still...a tv movie, with a very simple story told in a very simple way (not one of the scenes really stood out)

Fine

I like the scenery in it too. I was absorbed by the exchanges between the Maori runaway and the Hottentot tracker. Two obstinate cusses in a long standoff over the guns. I would have thought that the tracker would have known that a Maori wouldn't really need a compass.
