Fabulous Ezra!

Ezra Miller is what this one is all about - his character, "Gonzo" - drives the story. And what has happened to Mr. Miller? He was certainly one hot yumster at the time. What hair! In this mostly ignored fantasy, he plays an arrogant teenager who takes on the high-school establishment, and then has to apologize for being a jerk. I'm still giving it 7/10, mostly due to Ezra's seductive performance.

For me, the problem is that Ezra seemed too overtly and naturally arrogant. Some good-looking guys just have a "swagger" that never goes away. It makes them seem mean, and therefore, not worthy of our sympathy or support.

What's Ezra been doing lately, other than probably still looking good?

Have you seen We Need To Talk About Kevin? I think he's in a movie with Emma Watson that'll come out soon. I remember watching Starz and City Island was on...he was really funny in that movie and he didn't play an arrogant kid. He was actually a dork with a fetish for big women. The guy's got a bright future ahead of him. I just hope he doesn't get typecast because he's so good at playing a psycho.

Ezra Miller was by far the shining star of this film. He's incredibly cute, a good actor, and is very charismatic. I thought the supporting cast was amazing as well. Zoe Kravitz was really good as Evie, Stephanie Hong (Ming Na) delivered a subtly, scary performance, Edward Gelbinovich (Schneeman) was good, and Griffin Newman (Horny Rob) was hilarious.

I actually thought Gonzo's arrogance was pitch perfect for the role. I also didn't see him as being a jerk. He was just tired of being pushed around and seeing his friends get pushed around, so he stood up to the bullies despite his friends abandoning him out of fear. Granted, I understand how his friends felt about Gonzo revealing their secrets (i.e. the blackmail material Gavin was using against them), but the only way to stop Gavin and his goons from bullying them was to take away the power they had over them, which is exactly what Gonzo did. I applaud him.
