It's exactly what it looks to be

A by-the-numbers 'feel good' film elevated by excellent performances and sincerity.

The only really false note imo is making Smith's character so vehemently racist at the beginning, which makes her unlikeable and her transformation hard to believe. I think a more subdued attitude in the beginning would have served better.

Smith's character is not very consistent. And her transformation from housekeeper into suddenly a super efficient businesswowman a bit unlikely. Muriel's character in the book is more interesting I think.,a nd more believable.
